This week at GMDP Academy, students from our flagship certification program took the spotlight with their mid-term group presentations—a signature component of the programme that combines scientific rigor with professional collaboration.
Across two dynamic days, students presented on some of the most complex and debated issues in modern drug development. From the ethics of clinical trials in pregnant women to the role of artificial intelligence in patient safety, each group tackled their topic with depth, nuance, and a shared commitment to excellence.
These presentations aren’t just a formality—they’re a cornerstone of our flagship certification program in medicines development, accounting for 25% of the total programme mark (in conjunction with the end of program presentations). More importantly, they represent a real-world simulation of the kind of cross-functional collaboration that defines pharmaceutical careers.
Each group was asked to:
- Provide background and context around their topic
- Share the results of their research and team deliberations
- Reflect on how this learning will shape their future work
- Discuss how the group experience influenced their professional thinking
And they delivered.
What stood out most wasn’t just the knowledge students brought forward—it was how they worked together to make meaning from it. Groups held multiple planning sessions, navigated competing ideas, and synthesized research into clear, purposeful messaging. There was extensive student engagement, questions, stories about new perspectives they’re bringing to their careers and workplace, and a professionalism and show of excellence among the students and staff that we’re very proud of.
While some presentations challenged traditional assumptions (Should prescription medicines be promoted like consumer goods?), others explored innovation and opportunity (Is there a future for field-based medical roles?). Across the board, the presentations reflected an informed and evolving cohort—a group of professionals actively preparing for leadership in the biopharmaceutical space.
This moment also reflects what GMDP Academy is all about: taking the science and theory that medicines development is built on and turning it into applied insight. Students aren’t just absorbing content—they’re practicing how to communicate, collaborate, and critically evaluate the real-world complexities of developing safe, effective medicines.
As presentations wrap, students will also grade each other’s work—reinforcing the program’s emphasis on peer learning and mutual accountability. Those who couldn’t attend live will have access to recordings, ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to participate even with busy lives and work schedules.
👏 A round of applause to all participants
Your preparation, professionalism, and teamwork were on full display this week. These presentations serve as a powerful reminder that learning isn’t just about what you know—it’s about how you share it, challenge it, and grow from it.
