“Leadership in Medical Affairs” Course | October 16 – November 29, 2020
IFAPP Academy / Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development.
Leadership has emerged as a key competency in Medical Affairs, a competency that needs to be developed and perfected through time. Existing programs on leadership are useful in providing fundamentals but fall short in addressing the specific challenges and needs of the Medical Affairs professional.
With the desire to fill this need and contribute to accelerating the career development of the Medical Affairs professional, the IFAPP Academy, in partnership with the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development (Tufts CSDD), developed “Leadership in Medical Affairs,” a 6-week online interactive course on the fundamental pillars of leadership applied practically to the realities of the Medical Affairs world. The course is coordinated by Ana B. Salgado (IFAPP Academy) and Kenneth Kaitin (Tufts CSDD)
The faculty for this course, Paula Tully (www.escentia.co.uk) and Jeff Cohen (www.performanceleaders.biz), have brought in their unique combination of expertise in leadership and first-hand working experience in the pharmaceutical industry environment to create a course that relates to the experience and needs of the Medical Affairs professional.
Through the duration of this six-week program, students will:
- Assess their leadership style and determine how to be self-aware and lead with authenticity and courage
- Identify the principles of leading, leading teams in change and develop ways to be a sustainable and resilient leader in the face of change
- Acquire key building blocks to support students to become credible strategic leaders and business partners, and earn a seat at the leaders’ table
- Create their leadership development narrative and plan that addresses their individual needs, incorporates learnings from the course, and is ready to implement with concrete, attainable actions right after the course
