Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is poignant this time of the year. A moment for reflection, for introspection, for celebration, and for gratitude.
And, when a global community of believers in the accountability of the medicines development paradigm, and in promoting better patient health outcomes, is inspired to stand up for the values that matter, excellence prevails. Impassioned by a sense of purpose, of professional identity, of belonging.
That hallmark has defined our Academy this past year, 2025.
It has been a landmark year of transformation, of consolidation, of rekindling institutional ties, of rebuilding trust, of reinforcing relationships, of anticipation. The unwavering commitment received across all functions and roles, has been integral to the Academy’s deliverables, and to fostering the institutional partnerships forged along the way.
Our path-breaking strategic collaboration with the illustrious King’s College London, was memorialized in an extended accord, reemphasizing the underpinnings of academic credentialing and vocational distinction in medicines development that this Academy – King’s alliance imbues. Eminent institutions, including the International Federation of Associations of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Pharmaceutical Medicine (IFAPP) and the Associação Portuguesa de Medicina Farmacêutica (AMPIF), sharing perspectives for a cause that certainly reflects our shared vision, values, and purpose, formalized innovative cooperation protocols with the Academy, to jointly champion the medicines development movement, worldwide.
Indeed, these associations serve to provide impetus to the Academy’s endeavors in the professional development space, with cultivating quality learning and competencies, and promoting colleague engagement and advancement, across the global regulatory and medicines development communities.
Imperatively, recognizing the increasing demand for equipping professionals in medical affairs and pharmaceutical medicine with expanded skill sets, in a rapidly evolving healthcare stakeholder landscape, the Academy’s offerings diversified beyond the core Professional Certification in Medicines Development (CMD), in tandem with King’s College London, with programs expressly designed to instill the high-impact skills of Leadership and of Digital Technology in medicines development. Gratifyingly, these, too, were very well-received.
It has not been bereft of inherent trials and of tribulations. The critique was brutally honest, feedback transparent, and the learnings many — but, we listened, we adapted, we delivered, in real time.
And, we remain grateful.
Grateful to those who believed in us, to those who stood by us, with us, cajoling, compelling, coercing – individual names and titles are notional, as formal recognition is not sought as the driver, merely a corollary! To the Academy Governance, Leadership, Faculty, Operations Team, Global Fellows, and well-wishers. But, most of all to the program participants, who have reposed their faith in, and shared their respective learning journeys with, us, to reflect with pride, and to anticipate the future with confidence.
2025 reinforced incredible momentum, enthused by the accomplishments and by the progress, honed by the experiences, to establish the foundation for the Academy to meet the challenges tomorrow brings.
As 2026 dawns, wishing you and communities around you, even in a conflicted world, much joy, hope, and fulfilment, with renewed faith in the essence of humaneness.
