The Academy is thrilled to kick off its Behind the Screen Academy News Series with an introduction to our newest team member, Jean Ferreira. Jean took some time out of his busy schedule to allow us the opportunity to get to know him a bit better, and we’ve shared his interview with you here. We are humbled to work alongside this dynamic professional. Welcome, Jean!

1.    How long have you been with the Academy?

I started at the Academy in April of this year.

2.       What does your job entail?

I am responsible for the Academy’s Business Development initiatives so that we can extend our reach and results globally.

3.       What piqued your interest in the position and the Academy?

The opportunity to join a new and constantly evolving organization that has clear ideals, focused on the development of people and the Medical Affairs profession, contributing to its expansion and growth in the global Medicines Development market.

4.       Who is your biggest professional inspiration?

My biggest professional inspiration are my parents, who in their careers never allowed barriers and challenges to stop them from achieving success, while contributing to the people and companies they worked for, growing together.

5.       What’s a typical day in the life of Jean Ferreira?

A typical day in my life begins with planning activities, focusing on execution, and relentlessly striving for results.

6.       What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

When I’m not working, I try to spend as much time as possible with my family and, when possible, play my favorite sport, which is Soccer.

7.       Do you have a motto or personal mantra? What is it?

My personal mantra is: “Alive and Kicking!”

8.       What are three words you would use to describe your Professional Identity?

Focus, Discipline and Productivity!

9.       Where do you see the Medical Affairs profession five years from now?

The Medical Affairs profession is evolving rapidly, and with the efforts of the Academy in training and developing these professionals, we will have a legion of experts properly prepared for the challenges of the profession, aware of their role and relevance in the market, and with a fantastic sense of purpose and professional identity.

10.   What role do you think continuing education plays in advancing one’s professional Medical Affairs journey?

Continued and effective education is essential for every professional to achieve evolution and results in their profession, contributing decisively to personal development and in their work, and also to differentiate themselves in the organizations in which they work.

11. Where are you from?

I’m from Curitiba, a very nice city in Brazil’s southern region and I’m living now in São Paulo – Brazil.

12. What’s one thing you love about where you live now? 

São Paulo is the largest city in the Americas and the fourth most populous city in the world. Because of this, it is very cosmopolitan, inspires a global atmosphere, and allows contact and access to countless cultures and people from all over the world. Living in São Paulo means being a Global Citizen and I really love this.
